Carrier & owner-operator
Run for us
Flatbed and hotshot out of Houston and the Gulf Coast, into all 48 contiguous states. Most of it is construction material going to a live jobsite: wall panels, structural steel, precast. It loads from the side and comes off with a crane, not a dock.
If that's your kind of freight, get set up once and we'll call you when it fits.
Settlement
How we pay
Every term below is what we actually do, not a target. Ask a carrier who has run for us.
Net 30
Standard terms
From the day we have a complete invoice packet: signed rate confirmation, signed bills of lading, and any receipts you're claiming. Send it once and it's clean.
2 days
QuickPay, at 4%
Check issued within two business days of a complete packet, for a 4% fee on the invoice. Take it or leave it invoice by invoice. It isn't a standing election, and choosing it once doesn't sign you up for it.
NOA
Factored? Fine.
Most of what we pay out goes to factors, and we handle notices of assignment properly. We don't need to approve your factor and we won't hold payment waiting on a release letter from an old one.
Check
Company check, mailed
To the remit-to address on file, yours or your factor's. Keep that address current with us and nothing goes astray.
Detention, layover, TONU, stop-offs, tarping and driver assist are all paid on a published schedule. It's in the carrier packet, and the rate confirmation for your load restates whatever applies to it. Nothing gets invented at settlement.
Getting set up
What we need from you
One packet, once. We refresh it annually rather than asking you to re-send everything every quarter.
Send it to kk@avsfreight.com and Preet will come back to you.
-
01
Operating authority and W-9
Active MC or DOT authority in your legal name, and a W-9 that matches it.
-
02
Certificate of insurance
We require every carrier to carry at least $1,000,000 auto liability, $100,000 cargo, $1,000,000 general liability, and workers' compensation to statute. Name us as certificate holder and we'll take it direct from your agent.
-
03
Signed broker–carrier agreement
We'll send it to sign electronically. Read it — it's written to be read, and the accessorial schedule is an exhibit to it.
-
04
Notice of assignment, if you factor
Send your factor's NOA at setup, and tell us before you switch. That single message is the difference between getting paid on time and chasing a check to the wrong lockbox.
On the load
What the freight is actually like
It's tarped, and it's staged
Panels and steel go on in the order the crew wants them off, first piece needed loaded last. The shipper knows this and loads to it. You won't be re-stacking a trailer at the curb.
The delivery is a jobsite
No dock, no forklift, an appointment window, and PPE rules that change site to site. We tell you the rules before you accept, not when you arrive.
Weights are normal
Flatbed loads run close to 38,000 lb and top out at 48,000 lb — standard legal weight. Hotshot is lighter again. Everything we book runs at legal weight, on ordinary equipment.
One number, start to finish
Every load carries one reference number, and it's the same one on the rate confirmation, the paperwork and the check stub. When you call about it, whoever answers can pull it up.
